DHL REPORTS - Germany posts here please. |

As the old DHL thread was getting far too long for its own good a few of the members and Shaun have come up with the idea to split the thread up into each individual country's DHL reports. A quote from Shaun in original thread:
"To stop the reply questions, simply post in this topic like this... Country, # Days, VAT/Taxes Y/N 3 discs to UK, 3 days, no taxes .. Please let's only refer to DHL shipments..." |

Quote: So, what to do? Check DHL or Canadian Post in the checkout process (and request FedEx afterwards)? A suggestion: What do you think is better, starting a FedEx-Germany topic or put these reports under the DHL section as well? cya DocDVD |

Quote: Nothing at all. They only took the value of 49,95 CAD which was stated on the package. They didn't take a look at the invoice at all. BTW: This time the discription said "Video Discs" and not the usual "Used Software Samples". Sascha |

The invoice by DV-Depot stated ***** for 39,95 and ****** for 9,95. The package was opened and repacked, it had also "checked for customs purposes" tape around it. But I had nothing to pay! Seems quite strange to me too, but who cares? ;-) |

2 packages will be sent today via Fed Ex. Took me forever to login with their website and complete the necessary information. I hate automated systems
Hopefully FedEx will pick them up. Anwar, any update?? After a bunch of FedEx shipment #/FedEx CANCELLED shipment # emails I finally got shipping confirmation from Christian just now, so I assume my discs are on their way. No tracking data yet.
I'll report back here if anything interesting happens. |

Sorry about that...I'm not impressed with their on-line system. Would have been easier to fill out a form.

Well, as it says in the mails: FedEx Ship Manager at fedex.com is the world's first shipping application accessible via the internet. With FedEx Ship Manager, you no longer need to handwrite airbills or install additional software. Register for FedEx Ship Manager and try the future of shipping today! Doesn't seem to work quite as well as advertised. |

DHL and No Tax | ||

Hi,
my order came through by DHL today after being stuck at Cologen customs for almost 24 hrs. << October 18, 2002 18:33 Hamilton - Canada Shipment picked up October 18, 2002 23:08 Toronto - Canada Departed from DHL facility in Toronto - Canada October 19, 2002 02:42 Cincinnati, OH - USA Processed for clearance at Cincinnati, OH - USA October 19, 2002 07:45 Cincinnati, OH - USA Transferred through Cincinnati, OH - USA October 20, 2002 16:47 Cologne - Germany Processed for clearance at Cologne - Germany October 20, 2002 16:55 Cologne - Germany Clearance delay October 20, 2002 22:39 Cologne - Germany Clearance delay October 21, 2002 14:50 Cologne - Germany Clearance processing complete at Cologne - Germany October 22, 2002 02:31 Cologne - Germany Transferred through Cologne - Germany October 22, 2002 07:40 Hamburg - Germany Transferred through Hamburg - Germany October 22, 2002 07:54 Hamburg - Germany Arrived at DHL facility October 22, 2002 09:35 Hamburg - Germany With delivery courier October 22, 2002 11:47 Hamburg - Germany Shipment delivered >> Customs did open the package (but left the discs sealed). No tax was to be paid. The package included "Band of Brothers" box (declared at CAD 30.00) and "Sum of All Fears" (declared at CAD 12.00). Obviously that was good enough for Cologne customs. The invoices from the back of the package were removed (1 copy of the invoice was put inside the parcel). So far so good. DHL and customs seem to be OK if the discs are declared moderately priced. We'll have to see whether DHL or FedEx will be the best courier for Germany. So far the customer service of FedEx (Germany) doesn't seem to be too impressive (no 0800 Hotline on the weekend or in the night. faust |

Customs are looking for small parcels also ...
|
it's getting ridiculous
I bought a R2-disc from a playful Jersey company labeled 14.99GBP and as merchandise. customs converted it to 23.73 EURO charged 16% and now they want 3.80 EURO from me. I never had problems with 14.99 title before strange thou they didn't mind me importing a DVD with BBFC18 certificat |

Re: Customs are looking for small parcels also ...
Quote: That was never really a problem for me before as well. I don't use that playfull company anymore as my last orders were all taxed. So I think they're just in for the money... For R2 I went to shops that reside within the "tax-free" zone of the EU. cya DocDVD |

I have received a couple of disks from P*** without problems recently. Same goes for Amazon.co.uk. All single disk shipments, of course.
Maybe Eichel needs money that bad that he's ordered customs to help him out more Mata ne, k. |

amazon uk never was a problem as they are in EU-land.
but splash and play are in the danger zone and although their prices for R2-discs are better than the big stores it won't work out for us if even the single-shipped discs (R2) are going to be taxed from now on I just hope the fedex option for my r1 discs is a winner... not to soon i have to order again (addictive, y'know |

Customs on small parcels
|
Maybe you do not know this but should you have to pay customs on a parcel from the Jersey based Playful company they will refund you any charges levied by customs. All you have to do is fax or e-mail them the customs papers and receipt and they will refund the charges to your credit card. I know because I've had the same £14.99 problem..
